Twins Bring Back Joe Ryan From the Injured List to Start the Series Opener Against the Tigers

The Minnesota Twins reinstated All-Star pitcher Joe Ryan from the 15-day Injured List on Monday, ending a month-long absence due to a left glute strain.
Ryan, who pitched 125 2/3 innings before his injury, completed a three-inning rehab start on Tuesday and finished a bullpen session on Saturday at Rate Field.
The Twins enter the final stretch trailing leader Chicago by seven games in the American League Central and sitting 3 1/2 games behind Cleveland for the last wild-card spot.
To make room on the 26-man roster, the Twins optioned right-handed pitcher Garrett Acton to Triple-A St. Paul, clearing space for Ryan's return.
Ryan is slated to start Monday afternoon against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, where he carries a 5-2 career record with a 3.43 ERA.
