Jio Platforms IPO creates history: First issue globally to cross 1 crore applications
On Friday, Jio Platforms' IPO became the first public offer globally to cross 1 crore applications, recording a subscription of 7.83 times according to National Stock Exchange data.
Driven by strong institutional demand, the IPO reached full subscription within 100 minutes on October 21, with qualified institutional buyers' portion subscribed 16.27 times.
Valuing the company at approximately Rs 10.3 lakh crore, the Rs 30,213-crore IPO is set to become India's largest by issue size, surpassing Hyundai Motor India's Rs 27,859-crore offering.
The basis of allotment is expected to be finalized on October 26, ahead of the scheduled listing on the BSE and National Stock Exchange on October 28.
Jio expects to capitalize on 5G network migration and rising home broadband adoption, aligning with projections that India's digital economy could reach $1.4 trillion by FY31 through AI-based services.
