Jets' Frank Reich says Geno Smith ditched pass, checked to 'perfect play' on Braelon Allen's TD run
Braelon Allen ran for a career-high 116 yards and scored the decisive touchdown after Geno Smith checked from a pass to a run.
On Sunday, October 11, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith audibled to a run, handing the ball to Braelon Allen for a 22-yard touchdown that secured a 17-12 victory against the Cleveland Browns.
Offensive coordinator Frank Reich credits the team's success to the 'one-two' backfield combination of Allen and RB1 Breece Hall, which he considers the best running back duo in the NFL.
Allen finished with 24 carries for 116 rushing yards, a career-high performance; Reich praised his physicality, describing the runner as a 'big man with a little man's feet.'
With Hall sidelined by a quadriceps injury that head coach Aaron Glenn labeled 'week-to-week,' Allen has stepped in as the primary ball carrier for the Jets.
Ahead of the matchup against the New England Patriots, Allen is expected to lead the backfield again as Hall remains unlikely to suit up for the contest.
