‘Jeopardy!’: Tristan Williams Speaks Out as He Aims For TOC
The Lincoln, Nebraska data scientist has won $103,499 and will return Wednesday after securing a Tournament of Champions berth.
Williams won his fifth Jeopardy game, securing a spot in the upcoming Tournament of Champions with a five-day total of $103,499. He correctly identified Lake Pontchartrain during Final Jeopardy.
A data scientist from Lincoln, Nebraska, Williams has auditioned for Jeopardy since he was 16. His passion for knowledge began during high school Science Olympiad and math teams.
Williams faced Will Thornton from Worthington, Ohio, and Laurel Gilmer from Itacha, New York, entering with a four-day total of $76,199. He and Thornton battled for the lead during the first half.
After winning $27,300 during the match, Williams plans to rent a tennis court used for the Open to play with friends. Courts are available to the public for a price when not in use.
Returning for his sixth game on Wednesday, Williams will continue his winning streak. He described his time on the show as a "blur," noting that three of his four previous games resulted in runaways.
