The students met music director Omar Edwards and saw how Jay-Z’s stadium production comes together before the rapper’s two-night run.
On Friday, October 23, 2026, Jay-Z performed the first of two sold-out concerts at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, celebrating the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
Ahead of the performances, the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles received a behind-the-scenes look at production preparations, meeting with Jay-Z's Music Director Omar Edwards to discuss the creative process.
Blue Ivy Carter, 14, played piano for "The Story of O.J." and "Dead Presidents," while Scarface, DJ Khaled, and John Legend made surprise appearances during the two-hour show.
In a VIP suite, Destiny's Child members Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams reunited, joining celebrities including G-Eazy, Tia Mowry, and Omari Hardwick at the sold-out event.
Speculation persists that Jay-Z will headline the 2027 Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium, though the artist has not officially confirmed his participation for the upcoming event.
