- On Saturday, Jackson State Tigers football team defeated Alcorn State Braves football team 27-21 to clinch the SWAC East division title and earn hosting rights for the Dec. 6 championship.
- A 17-0 early lead powered by freshman quarterback Jared Lockhart and over 100 rushing yards from running back Ahmad Miller helped Jackson State win despite missing starting quarterback JaCobian Morgan for four regular-season games.
- Ahmad Miller opened JSU's scoring with a 4th-and-goal run from the 3 and Travis Terrell Jr added a 1-yard touchdown, while Alcorn recovered a knee-down fumble and failed two Hail Mary attempts.
- The SWAC postseason path continues as Coach T.C. Taylor said JaCobian Morgan, starting quarterback, is expected to play and the champion advances to the Celebration Bowl on Dec. 13.
- Historically for the Jackson State Tigers football program, this is the fourth back-to-back division win, building on last year's SWAC Championship and Celebration Bowl victory over South Carolina State.
