Japan Name Squad for India T20I

Japan kept the same 15-player squad for India and the Asian Games, with the India match launching a new sport-exchange initiative.

  • On Monday, The Japan Cricket Association unveiled its 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 International against India on September 22 at Sano International Cricket Ground.
  • This match launches the "Sport 75" initiative, stemming from an agreement between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties.
  • Captain Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming, who has featured in 55 T20Is, leads the squad alongside Ibrahim Takahashi and Declan Suzuki-McComb, the only other players with more than 50 T20I appearances.
  • The squad mirrors the Asian Games team, as Japan opted not to include players eligible under ICC regulations but ineligible under Asian Games rules.
  • Before competing in the Asian Games beginning September 24, Japan plays two T20Is against Hong Kong on September 19 and 20 to finalize preparations.
