Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Meeting Set for June 3
The meeting comes amid opposition claims that several ruling party MLAs may defect and that the Omar Abdullah-led government could fall anytime.
On Wednesday, June 3, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will convene a meeting of National Conference MLAs and four independent supporters to deliberate on 'matters of collective importance' and public welfare issues.
Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma claimed ruling party MLAs were 'on the verge of jumping ship' and alleged the Omar Abdullah-led government will not complete its term and 'can fall anytime.'
Abdullah invited independent MLAs alongside his party legislators, with an unnamed MLA characterizing the session as 'not routine' but 'a serious exercise' intended to hear from all legislators about constituent concerns.
Six Congress MLAs currently supporting the NC government were not invited to the meeting, signaling potential friction within the governing coalition.
Abdullah's recent discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah regarding files 'awaiting nod from Centre' reflect broader governance challenges as the chief minister consolidates legislative support amid instability claims.
