Jake Golday, former UC Bearcats LB, drafted by Vikings in NFL draft
- On Friday, the Minnesota Vikings selected Cincinnati Bearcats linebacker Jake Golday with the 51st overall pick, following their first-round choice of Florida Gators defensive tackle Caleb Banks on Thursday.
- Minnesota acquired the 51st pick after trading their No. 49 selection to the Carolina Panthers, receiving the No. 159 pick in exchange while surrendering the No. 196 selection.
- Golday recorded 105 tackles and 3.5 sacks during his final Cincinnati season, running a 4.62 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine despite standing 6'4" and weighing 240 pounds.
- Cincinnati head coach Scott Satterfield called Golday an "instinctive linebacker who plays with elite speed and toughness." He joins defensive coordinator Brian Flores' scheme alongside veterans Blake Cashman and Eric Wilson.
- Golday is the first Cincinnati player drafted by Minnesota since 1997, extending the program's 11-year draft streak. The Vikings hope he becomes their first true second-round success story since Brian O'Neill in 2018.
