Ajmer Jail in-Charge Arrested After 2 Months for Taking Female Inmates to Clean Flat
Police said Divya Chaudhary misused her post to take two female inmates out for domestic help before she went absconding and was arrested.
On Tuesday, October 6, police arrested Divya Chaudhary, a 37-year-old jail in-charge, in Kota following an investigation into allegations she misused her position at Ajmer Central Jail by taking inmates for domestic work.
Unable to manage her household workload, Chaudhary allegedly attempted to walk two inmates from the Women's Reformatory out on July 12 to assist with childcare and housework.
The inmates remained out for barely 'an hour or two' before returning, police said. Following an internal inquiry, a case was registered at Ajmer's Civil Lines police station on August 5.
Deputy SP Shivam Joshi noted an unusual culmination: Chaudhary is now lodged at the same Ajmer Central Jail where she previously served as jailer responsible for inmate security.
In her defense, Chaudhary claimed she requested Open Jail inmates and blamed her subordinate for the error. However, under Rajasthan Prisons Rules, jailers remain strictly responsible for prisoner custody and discipline.
The story surrounding the arrest of jailer Divya Chaudhary in Ajmer, Rajasthan, has raised many questions. The allegations relate to female prisoners, but some details revealed during the police investigation make the entire case even more interesting.
