Jabalpur Cruise Accident: Sonu Sood Calls for Strict Accountability, Says ‘We Need a Govt Portal where….’
Police and disaster teams are searching for 8 to 10 missing passengers after sudden stormy weather caused the boat to overturn and sink.
On Thursday evening, a cruise boat carrying 29 passengers capsized in the Bargi Dam in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, near Khamariya Island following a sudden storm.
Sudden adverse weather conditions triggered strong winds and high waves, causing the cruise boat to lose balance, overturn, and gradually sink in the reservoir.
While 15 passengers swam to safety, at least six bodies have been retrieved from the Narmada river; officials report ten tourists remain missing.
Jabalpur District Collector Raghvendra Singh and Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyaya are overseeing intensive search operations by the State Disaster Emergency Response Force.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav deployed Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh and Tourism Minister Dharmendra Bhavsingh Lodhi to the site while authorities plan to investigate whether safety protocols were followed.
