World’s Tallest Fresh-Cut Christmas Tree Arrives at Southern California Outlet Mall
Organizers say the fir will be covered with more than 18,000 lights and 10,000 ornaments before the Nov. 7 ceremony.
- On Monday, a 115-foot white fir arrived at Citadel Outlets in Commerce, with organizers billing it as the world's tallest fresh-cut Christmas tree and Santa Claus welcoming its installation in Center Court.
- Victor Serrao, owner of Victor's Christmas Trees, hand-selected the white fir from Mount Shasta in Northern California, where it traveled more than 600 miles over three days before arriving at the mall.
- According to organizers, the tree stands 35 feet taller than the 80-foot Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and 70 feet taller than the Hollywood Sign, providing concrete scale comparisons.
- Workers are securing the tree in Center Court ahead of Citadel Outlets' 25th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Concert on November 7 at 5 p.m.
- Over the next two weeks, crews will add more than 1,000 branches to perfect the tree's shape, then apply fire-retardant coating and install 18,000 lights and 10,000 ornaments.
