'It was bad': Salmon Arm senior's roof prompts return of Integrity Roofing giveaway
Integrity Roofing and Standard Roofing donated labor and materials after a month-old request from Evelyn Dallow, who recently had a concussion and hospital stay.
On Wednesday, crews from Integrity Roofing and Standard Roofing arrived at Evelyn Dallow's Broadview Mobile Villa residence in Salmon Arm to replace her roof for free. Both companies are owned by Josh Bickle.
Integrity manager James Penner, who had serviced Dallow's roof previously, recognized it needed replacement after years of ice damming and leaks. The project revives the company's past annual practice of providing free roofing to those in need.
Suppliers Roof Centre in Vernon and Iko Roofing donated materials, while Salmon Arm's Home Hardware provided hand tools for cleanup. These contributions support Dallow, a senior on fixed income recovering from a recent concussion.
Dallow noted the roof had leaked on several occasions at her Broadview Mobile Villa home. "Boy, my roof is more popular than me!" she said as workers began the replacement work.
Penner affirmed that Integrity will likely perform similar charitable work more often moving forward. "Evelyn deserved it," he said, noting the project rekindled the company's commitment to helping others in need.
