Israelis march to Gaza border demanding re-establishment of settlements

  • On Sunday, the Nahala movement agreed with the IDF to end their march at a Zikim beach lookout rather than entering Gaza, with organizers stating the event would "end with a lookout over the settlement of 'Eli Sinai' and the northern border of the Gaza Strip."
  • The IDF declared the border area a closed military zone until 8:00 a.m. on Monday to prevent the march from reaching the fence, extending restrictions from the Yad Mordechai junction to the Kerem Shalom area.
  • Participants included "28 cabinet members, ministers and members of Knesset, alongside war wounded, fighters and bereaved families," featuring National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
  • Movement organizers will demand the "immediate establishment of the settlements of Nissanit, Dugit and Eli Sinai," stating, "With God's help, we will soon be able to establish the first settlements in the Gaza Strip- the heavens are marking the border!"
  • Founder Daniella Weiss has been sanctioned by Canada and the United Kingdom for her attitudes towards Palestinians, while the movement has organized several similar marches since October 7 attacks, including a December event where participants crossed the border.
