Israeli settlers set fire to mosque in occupied West Bank
On Tuesday night, Jewish settler extremists attacked the West Bank village of Mukhmas, setting fire to a mosque, a vehicle, and an olive tree, Israeli and Palestinian media reported.
Settler violence across the occupied territory has surged since Israel launched its war on Gaza three years ago, with about 750,000 settlers now living in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Nationalist slogans including "Regards, Susya" and "Evacuation = Messy" were spray-painted on the mosque walls, while Palestinian news organization PNN alleged settlers chased a shepherd and stole olives from local groves.
IDF forces arrived at the scene but found no suspects and made no arrests. Separately, settlers attacked a Palestinian boy in Beita on Wednesday, while three Palestinians were arrested in Qalqilya.
Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have accused the Israeli government of facilitating settler violence to expand control, noting that settlements in occupied territory remain illegal under international law.
