Israeli settlers kill Palestinian in West Bank, say officials
On Thursday, Israeli militant settlers shot two Palestinians in the village of Yasuf in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, killing one and injuring the other, according to Palestinian officials.
Village council head Jumaa Abdel Fattah said the assailants came from a settler outpost built near Yasuf two months ago, with settlers attacking the village continuously since its establishment.
Violence has surged in the West Bank, where military and settler actions have killed more than 80 Palestinians since the beginning of 2026, according to UN data.
Rights groups describe the increasing settler presence as a campaign to seize Palestinian land, while most countries regard these settlements as illegal under international law governing military occupations.
Since capturing the West Bank in 1967, Israel has maintained military occupation under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has overseen a massive expansion of Jewish outposts despite international opposition.
