Protesters in Cyprus condemn Herzog’s visit, denounce embrace of Israel
TEHRAN — Israeli “President” Isaac Herzog faced sharp condemnation during an official visit to Nicosia on Thursday, as human rights organizations and anti-war activists gathered outside the Presidential Palace to denounce the Christodoulides administration for hosting the head of a regime conducting genocide in Gaza.
Greek media, stating that Israeli President Herzog's visit to Southern Cyprus would only serve to anger Türkiye, drew attention to Ankara's regional power and emphasized that strategic cooperation with Israel would undermine peace efforts in Cyprus.
Israeli President Herzog was protested against in Cyprus by pro-Palestinian human rights groups. Cypriot police took strict measures in response to these protests.
