- A US submarine sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena off Sri Lanka, and 87 sailors were rescued after the ship was hit during a friendly visit to India.
- Israel pounded Lebanon early Thursday and said it intercepted missiles from Iran, while Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards claimed Wednesday to have closed the Strait of Hormuz and vowed a heavy price for the attacks.
- US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters the ship thought it was safe in international waters, while Sri Lankan officials said the United States killed at least 87 people with 61 missing.
