ISP: Indiana General Assembly members are being targeted in swatting incidents
At least four Indiana state senators were targeted in swatting attempts linked to redistricting disputes, with Indiana State Police seeking criminal prosecution for those responsible.
- On Nov. 20, the Indiana State Police announced it is investigating multiple swatting incidents targeting the Indiana General Assembly and will seek criminal prosecution, coordinating with local, county and federal law‑enforcement partners.
- President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance pushed Indiana Republicans to redraw maps for two additional House seats, while Gov. Mike Braun said Nov. 18 he would try to `compel` the Senate after vote shortfalls.
- At about 8 a.m., Sen. Spencer Deery said dispatch received a false domestic abuse report threatening officers, and Sen. Greg Goode reported unpaid pizza orders used for intimidation, with Goode saying `While this entire incident is unfortunate... I am ok`.
- No injuries have been reported, and local law enforcement alerted senators after spotting fake calls; authorities are collaborating with county and federal partners and ask the public to tip Indiana State Police at iifc@iifc.in.gov.
- Officials warn swatting is dangerous and illegal, can be a Level 6 felony in Indiana, and Sen. Dan Dernulc said the attempts stem from the Senate's decision not to pursue mid-census redistricting.
