Is fun gone? 1 in 2 Americans say yes
A Talker Research survey of 5,000 adults found 57% blame cost and budget for missing fun, while 89% say shared fun improves relationships.
Nearly half of Americans feel their lives currently lack sufficient fun, according to a survey of 5,000 adults commissioned by Dave and Buster and conducted by Talker Research between Apr. 21 and May 1.
Compared to a decade ago, 52% of Americans find it harder to have fun today, largely because they cannot afford the same activities and their social circles have shrunk .
Those lacking fun desire 17 extra hours per week, and 55% said they would prioritize recreation if experiences were low-cost, while 37% frequently cancel plans when unexpected obligations arise.
Melissa Powers, vice president of marketing at Dave and Buster, said the company is investing in value-driven experiences like the Summer Season Pass to help people "get together" and create shared memories.
Most Americans believe shared fun strengthens relationships, while 72% report feeling less stress when prioritizing leisure, underscoring recreation's role in overall well-being amid increasingly busy lives.
