By Zachary Cohen, CNN, the U.S. attacked several Iranian oil tankers near Jarg Island in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, two U.S. officials reported. One official pointed out that U.S. forces attacked Iranian oil tankers — linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps — in response to missile attack attempts on a U.S. Navy warship.

Since Friday, the two blocs have been attacked mainly in the Gulf region, where maritime traffic continues to be very low between the blockade of the Strait of Ormuz by Tehran, and the American maritime blockade imposed, in return, on Iranian ports.
