Mohammed Seman Agha, the head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITC), was elected the new governor of Kirkuk following a vote in the Kirkuk Provincial Council. Agha is the first Turkmen to be appointed governor of Kirkuk in nearly 100 years. His election was met with joy by the Turkmen community, and thousands of citizens paraded through the city's main streets carrying ITC and Turkmeneli flags.
It was announced that Muhammed Seman Ağa, the head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, was elected as the governor of Kirkuk. With Ağa's election, the governorship passed back to the Turkmens after 100 years.
