Rare flooding along the Euphrates River in northern and eastern Syria prompted officials to urge residents living along its banks to move inland. Heavy rains led authorities to open gates at the Euphrates Dam.
While record temperatures are measured in Europe, Syria reports deaths after floods. The authorities also blame Turkey for this.
