Iraola Makes Liverpool Transfers Demand and Elliott Promise - 'We Need More'
On Monday, new Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola held his first press conference at the AXA Training Centre in Kirkby, outlining plans to restore an aggressive, attacking style of football to the Reds.
The 44-year-old Spaniard defended his two-year contract as unimportant, insisting managers must earn the right to continue annually while facing the challenge of replacing Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate.
Iraola acknowledged the club is working hard on transfers, noting that Spanish winger Victor Munoz and centre-back Jeremy Jacquet have joined but the squad needs more reinforcements. "We need more," he said.
Midfielder Harvey Elliott, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, will receive a chance during pre-season; Iraola confirmed Elliott remains part of his plans. "Definitely," the manager said.
Ahead of pre-season friendlies in the United States next week, Iraola intends to immerse himself in local culture, describing the role as "magic" while aiming to build a team supporters can feel proud of.
