- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated the negotiations are "completely separate" from the Strait's reopening, as the 60-day peace period expired without breakthrough, leaving both sides as far apart as they were two months ago.
- Because former transit paths are non-functional, officials are designing a temporary route for ships, though the United States continues demanding the waterway fully reopen, a condition Iran says depends on future US compliance.
- "Once this route has been determined, whether the Strait will be reopened or not will depend on the fulfilment of other conditions to which the United States must adhere," Araghchi stated.
- Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces pressure over a US-backed truce deal in Gaza, where Hamas urges mediators to compel Israel to sign an agreement while Israeli troops occupy about 60 per cent of the territory.
