Iowa Pork Producers to hand out 1,776 pork chops for America 250
The association says 6,500 beverage buyers will also receive America 250 cups as the fair highlights the nation’s 250th anniversary.
- On Sunday, Aug. 16, the Iowa Pork Producers Association will give away 1,776 free Pork Chops on a Stick at the Iowa State Fair to honor the United States' 250th anniversary.
- Story County pig farmer Dave Moody said the '1776 Pork Chop Salute' is the association's way of "celebrating the farmers who raise high-quality pork every day" at the fair.
- The first 6,500 fairgoers to purchase beverages at the Pork Tent will receive a commemorative America 250 and pork-themed cup at the Grand Concourse.
- Coinciding with the celebrations, the Charleston Museum displays a rare 1776 broadsheet of the Declaration of Independence printed by Peter Timothy, marking the document's historical arrival in Charleston.
