Iowa and UConn Will Start a Home-and-Home Women’s Basketball Series Next Season
On Tuesday, Iowa and UConn announced a two-game home-and-home women's basketball series beginning next season, with UConn hosting in 2026-27 and Iowa hosting in 2027-28.
Despite their prominence as two of the most recognizable brands in women's college basketball, UConn has not visited Carver-Hawkeye Arena in more than two decades, last playing there in 1999.
The teams split their last two meetings: Iowa defeated UConn 71-69 in the 2024 Final Four semifinals in Cleveland, and UConn won 90-64 in the Women's Champions Classic in Brooklyn in December, with Aaliyah Edwards called for an offensive foul in the final seconds of the 2024 contest.
Iowa will travel to Connecticut on Sunday, November 8 at a venue still to be determined—either Gampel Pavilion in Storrs or Peoples Bank Arena in Hartford —while the 2027-28 return game date remains pending.
UConn head coach Geno Auriemma, who has led the Huskies for 41 seasons with a.886 winning percentage and won 12 national championships most recently in 2025, is building a strong nonconference slate including South Carolina, Duke, Michigan and Maryland alongside the Iowa series.
