Intel to Acquire Classiq to Create a Full-Stack Quantum Computing Platform
The deal would make Classiq Intel’s global quantum development center and give the chipmaker a full-stack platform for hardware, software and manufacturing.
On Monday, October 26, 2026, Intel Corporation announced a definitive agreement to acquire Tel Aviv-based Classiq for $2.2 billion, marking the largest acquisition in quantum computing history.
The acquisition transforms Intel into a full-stack quantum computing business by combining Classiq's automated algorithm synthesis platform with Intel's semiconductor manufacturing expertise and silicon spin-qubit technology.
Described as the 'Microsoft of the quantum world,' Classiq provides a hardware-agnostic operating system used by commercial clients including BMW, Citibank, and Rolls Royce to develop quantum applications.
While this deal is record-breaking, Intel has a mixed history with Israeli tech acquisitions, including the $15.3 billion Mobileye purchase and the subsequent shutdown of Granulate after failed integration.
Intel anticipates closing the transaction in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions as the company pursues its quantum computing expansion.
