Injured India seamer Krishna out of ODI series in NZ
The BCCI said the pacer needs more time to build his bowling workload and may return for the Test series if he clears fitness checks.
On Friday, the BCCI ruled pacer Prasidh Krishna out of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand beginning November 4 after he failed to recover from a hamstring injury sustained during the home series against the West Indies.
The hamstring injury occurred during the home ODI series against the West Indies, forcing team management to prioritize his recovery for the Test series. Officials confirmed Krishna needs more time to build his bowling workload before returning to competitive cricket.
Subject to clearing Return to Play assessments, Krishna has match simulation and fitness tests scheduled in Bengaluru on November 1 and 2. He will then join the India A squad for the third four-day game to prepare for the Test series.
Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi, who impressed in the recent unofficial red-ball game against New Zealand A, has been called up as Krishna's replacement for the ODI series.
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will also link up with the India A squad for their respective four-day matches, gaining match practice ahead of the two-Test series beginning November 19.
