Argentina's inflation in July stands at 1.9%
Argentina's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.9% in July, bringing the year-on-year inflation to 36.6% and the year-to-date figure to 17.3%, according to a report from the National Institute of Statistics (Indec) released Wednesday in Buenos Aires. This marks the third consecutive month with a monthly inflation rate below 2%, a trend not seen since late 2017.
This increase exceeds 1.6 percent in June and 1.5 percent in May, bringing year-on-year inflation to 36.6 percent.
President Javier Milei and the ministers stressed that the figure remained below 2%. The head of state, in addition, broke down items in which the prices of basic elements were even lower than the average
The price index in the City of Buenos Aires, which always comes out earlier, was 1.8% last month.Consultants estimate that the national data will again be below 2% for the third consecutive month.
