Inflation in May 2025: Bolzano, Naples and Venice at the Top According to Istat

Among the capitals of the autonomous regions and provinces and the municipalities not capitals of region with more than 150 thousand inhabitants in May the highest inflation is observed in Bolzano, Naples and Venice (+2.3% all three) followed by Padua (+2.2%); the lowest is recorded in Florence (+1.0%), Aosta (+0.9%) and Parma (+0.8%). Istat notes this by recalling that the national average in May is 1.6% in decrease from 1.9% in April.

A similar trend can be seen throughout Italy: According to Statistics Istat, the national inflation rate in May was 1.6 percent – after 1.9 percent in April. Energy prices again recorded the sharpest price decline. Prices for food, household and personal care products, on the other hand, rose slightly. Compared to the provincial capitals, Bolzano is ranked first with an inflation rate of 2.3 percent, together with Venice and Naples.
