The euro area's annual inflation rate in July stood at 8.9%, up from 8.6% in June. A year earlier, the rate was 2.2%. The annual inflation of the European Union, on the other hand, was 9.8%, up from 9.6% in June (last year it was 2.5%). The data were published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the Union.
