One Nation Infighting a Sign of ‘Many Egos’: Canavan
Party insiders say concerns have grown after Farley disclosed he once considered Labor and broke with One Nation policy on migration.
One Nation's Farrer candidate, David Farley, faces intense internal scrutiny regarding his long-term loyalty ahead of Saturday's byelection, with party sources fearing he may be a "flight risk."
History suggests potential instability, as almost 75 per cent of One Nation's state and federal representatives have failed to complete a single term, a pattern critics attribute to leader Pauline Hanson's management style.
Farley recently broke with party policy by suggesting Australia's net migration could reach 306,000, while reports revealed he previously sought Labor preselection, disclosing this to leaders only after media exposure last week.
Senior figure Barnaby Joyce attributed Farley's controversial comments to "the pressure of a campaign" and called for stronger party oversight, while chief of staff James Ashby suggested Senator Hanson might contest a lower house seat.
Despite internal discord, One Nation remains confident of winning Farrer on Saturday; however, Nationals leader Matt Canavan branded the party one that "struggles to stay together" amid the campaign infighting.
