INEC is reviewing questionable records and possible technical lapses as it seeks to correct the register before final certification.

Spokesperson Mohammed Kudu Haruna confirmed on Tuesday the commission is reviewing technical and procedural lapses.
- Concerns emerged after INEC published the register online on October 26, 2026, when social media users identified suspicious irregularities including duplicated voter profiles, duplicate identification numbers, and deceased individuals still listed.
- Dr. Lawrence Bayode, INEC's Director of Information and Communication Technology , admitted during an Arise Television interview that registration officers allegedly used official login credentials to introduce irregularities, exposing internal procedural lapses.
- Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Action Alliance National Chairman Kenneth Udeze demanded an independent forensic audit, warning that the alleged involvement of over 20 million AI-generated images requires external oversight rather than internal cleanup.
- INEC vowed verification and data-cleanup will finish before the final register is certified on December 15, 2026, while deploying 57,000 newly procured Bimodal Voter Accreditation System devices to strengthen technological capacity.
