Primary Election Day: What to Know Before You Vote in Allen County
More than 100 contested races will decide nominees for Congress, the legislature and local offices as voters cast ballots in party primaries.
Indiana voters head to the polls today, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, to decide party nominees for the November general election. Polls remain open from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. across the state.
This primary determines candidates for the November 3, 2026, general election, covering all 9 U.S. House seats, state legislature positions, and local offices including sheriff and judges.
High-Profile races include State Senate District 15, where incumbent Republican Sen. Liz Brown faces Darren Vogt, and District 19, where Trump-backed Blake Feichter challenges incumbent Sen. Travis Holdman.
In the Ninth Congressional District, Republican incumbent Erin Houchin runs unopposed while four Democrats compete for the nomination. Northeast Indiana voters are also selecting the U.S. House District 3 candidate.
