Indiana leaders celebrate 25 years of safe haven newborn surrender law

Since 2017, 31 infants have been safely surrendered under Indiana’s law allowing unharmed infant surrender to prevent abandonment and deaths, organizers said.

Hoosier leaders gathered this week at the Statehouse to hail the 25th anniversary of a safe haven law that encourages parents to surrender infants rather than abandon them.
