OSCE Observers on Romania's Presidential Elections: "The Election Day Was Generally Well Organised"

The presidential elections in Romania have been organised professionally, but the process has been affected by lack of transparency, online misinformation and unclear regulations between the two examination markets, shows the preliminary report of the OSCE observation mission.

The Special Coordinator of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly stated, on the other hand, that the elections were well organised, although the challenges related to accessibility persisted.

The OSCE stressed the need for further reforms to align the electoral framework with international standards and the OSCE commitments. Although the legal framework regulates key aspects of the electoral process, the rules on electoral campaigns, funding and mediation are ambiguous or insufficiently detailed.
