A demonstration in front of the headquarters of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), during which opponents tried to force access to the premises, set fire to the powders and revived an arm of iron between this last large independent intermediary organisation in Tunisia and the state.

Following the "attack attempt" carried out on 7 August against its siege by unidentified groups and threats made the next day by President Saïed against it, the powerful trade union center replied and called for a big march on 21 August.
