Kutryk will spend six months aboard the station conducting experiments, research and maintenance after arriving with three crewmates.
On Thursday, Astronaut Joshua Kutryk reached the International Space Station after launching from Florida's Kennedy Space Center, emerging through the hatch late Thursday to join his three crewmates.
After a nearly eight-hour flight, the crew completed two hours of docking procedures before officially boarding the station late Thursday evening.
During a brief welcome ceremony, Kutryk said his first order of business now that he'd made it to the station was to get some shut-eye.
Friday marks Kutryk's first full day in space as he settles into the station's routine alongside his three crewmates conducting daily operations.
Throughout his six-month residency, Kutryk will conduct scientific experiments, perform critical maintenance work, and participate in ongoing research aboard the orbital laboratory.
