Violent incidents broke out on 17 October against "costful life", notably in Lille and Marseille, where the town halls were stormed.

A group of aggressive demonstrators in Marseille broke into the city hall building, broke down the front door, and several protesters were able to enter the city administration building and painted the walls with sprays of paint, and a police special unit was later able to secure the building and now several police officers with shields are guarding the entrance.
