Huge Response After Four Get in Trouble in Sea by Shoreham
Emergency crews sent helicopters, lifeboats and multiple ambulances after four people needed medical assistance in the water, officials said.
On Tuesday, emergency services responded to reports of four people in difficulty in the water near Shoreham Fort in West Sussex, with Sussex Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service managing the ongoing incident.
HM Coastguard alerted Shoreham RNLI at approximately 3:00 PM, prompting a multi-agency operation including two air ambulances and rescue teams from Littlehampton, Shoreham, and Newhaven Coastguard Rescue Teams.
The A259 Brighton Road is closed between New Road and Kingston Lane to facilitate operations, and witnesses observed an ambulance departing the scene under a police escort.
A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed, "We were called shortly after 3pm," as multiple resources remain at the scene.
Sussex Police have urged the public to avoid the area while the incident remains active, with authorities promising further updates as soon as more information becomes available.
