In Congo displacement camp, fighting Ebola with sand, oatmeal and one thermometer but no water
A camp in Bunia, Congo, housing 10,000 displaced people has only one handwashing station and one infrared thermometer to combat the Ebola outbreak.
Camp leaders advise residents to wash their hands before eating, using soap if available, otherwise oatmeal or sand.
Resident Francine Leve Janguzi expressed fear over the lack of protection, no water or soap, and living near garbage in the camp.
Heather Kerr from the International Rescue Committee said ongoing conflict and displacement in eastern Congo have weakened health systems, complicating efforts to control Ebola.
