In the Comoros, there are many reactions to the arrest of two officials of the daily newspaper "La Gazette des Comores", the country's main independent newspaper. Arrested on Monday 8 June in the evening by the gendarmerie, the publishing director El-had Said Omar and journalist Toufé Maecha are targeted by an investigation opened by the prosecutor's office. The authorities refer to publications that could disturb public order.
Toufé Maecha, the newspaper's managing editor, was arrested on Monday, as was his boss, El-had Saïd Omar, before the latter was released. They are accused of publishing articles related to the health of former president Ahmed Abdallah Sambi, the main opponent of Azali Assoumani.
