Uzbekistan will be the next Chairman of the CIS from a new year, informed Russian President Vladimir Putin. "Today it has been decided that from 1 January next year the relay of the presidency of the CIS will move to Uzbekistan.
In 2027, the CIS presidency will move to Uzbekistan, which was announced at the Commonwealth Summit in Turkmenistan and reported on by the "Turkmen News Portal".
Shawkat Mirziyoev thanked colleagues for their support for this decision. "For us, the Commonwealth presidency means first of all an opportunity to contribute to the common work, to propose new ideas and to work together to advance those areas that are truly important to our countries. Next year we intend to focus on issues that produce a clear and tangible result," he stressed.
