With slogans and tears, Ujjain schoolgirls protest plan to shift government schools far away
Activists involved with the protests claim six schools are proposed to be merged with the Sandipani Vidyalaya, built in Daudkhedi, and that the move is likely to impact more than 2,500 students
In Ujjain, female students protested the proposed relocation of the Sarafa Girls Higher Secondary School to Daudkhedi village, about 10 kilometers from the city. On Friday, around 800 female students demonstrated at the Collector's office. They said their families would not send them to study at the new location due to the lack of transportation facilities and the deserted road.
In Ujjain, 300-350 female students surrounded the Collectorate on Friday to protest the relocation of the Sarafa School to Daudkhedi. They raised slogans against the administration.
