Israeli authorities are discussing a plan to reduce troops in southern Lebanon and implement a new militarized security zone.
It has been alleged that the Israeli army plans to create a new buffer zone 2 to 4 kilometers deep into Israeli territory, starting from the Lebanese border. The plan, dubbed the "Gray Line," has reportedly not yet been approved by the political leadership.
The new Israeli plan in southern Lebanon does not appear to be a withdrawal in the actual sense, as it represents an attempt to redraw the boundaries of the area that Israel wants to keep under its military control, by moving from the current yellow line to what Israeli security circles have begun to call the grey line.
