Gilles Simeoni assured Wednesday evening that his decision to top the list was "shared" with the outgoing mayor, trying to extinguish insistent rumours of tensions around the latter's refusal to give up his place.
It is now official: Gilles Simeoni will lead the list of the outgoing municipal majority in Bastia for the elections of March 2026. Guest of the program Pulitica, the president of the executive council of Corsica confirms his return to the municipal scene, in the city that elected him mayor twelve years ago.
His candidacy was expected, the reactions are no less intense in the opposition camp. They severely criticise the return of the president of the Executive to Bastia.
