OPP Investigate Shooting on Hwy. 401 in Mississauga
The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries after debris from a broken window, and police are seeking dashcam video.
Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a shooting on Highway 401 in Mississauga that injured one person early Friday, with the incident occurring in the eastbound collector lanes near Mavis Road.
Around 12:16 a.m. Friday, the victim was struck by debris from gunfire and pulled off the highway to call police for help. Peel Regional Police confirmed the shooting timing.
Officers closed the eastbound transfer lanes at Creditview Road for several hours to search for evidence, while a vehicle believed to be involved was located near the Mavis Road off-ramp.
Led by the OPP's criminal investigation branch, the investigation is ongoing and the major highway stretch has reopened. Officials stated there is no threat to public safety at this time.
Witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage are asked to contact police as the investigation continues. Investigators are appealing for information from anyone who was driving through the area during the incident.
