Salvation Army of Norfolk Hosting ‘Stuff the Bus’ School Supplies Drive
NORTH ALABAMA, JUL 16 – The 14th annual CAFY event provided school supplies and 40,000 pounds of groceries to support about 300 families in North Alabama, promoting community care and youth readiness.
- On Saturday at Calhoun Community College, CAFY and partners distributed over 1,000 backpacks and 40,000 pounds of groceries, feeding about 300 families.
- Now in its 14th year, the Stuff the Bus event serves as a cornerstone for back-to-school readiness, emphasizing dignity and opportunity, according to its organizers.
- Community Action Region VI will distribute supplies and organizers aim to fill the bus with folders, markers, compasses and other essentials, with donations accepted from July 21 through Aug.10 at Buffalo Mall and Gate City Bank.
- Madison County Commissioner Violet Edwards called the event “our biggest investment,” while an event representative said “This is what we do for the community.”
