Huawei Mate XT 2 Tri-Fold Launched: Specs, Privacy Display, And Features

The tri-fold phone adds a privacy OLED option and a Kirin 9050 Pro chipset, with pre-orders starting at CNY 19,999, Huawei said.

  • On Monday, September 7, 2026, Huawei launched the Mate XT2 in China, featuring a 10.2-inch inward-folding flexible screen. The second-generation tri-fold replaces the earlier accordion-style design with a more protective form factor.
  • Taking inspiration from Samsung's Galaxy Z TriFold, the device folds both sides inward to protect the display from damage. It is also the first foldable to include a privacy-enhancing display, matching technology Samsung recently added to the Galaxy S26 Ultra this year.
  • Powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset with a 9-core design, Huawei claims 46% better CPU performance and 142% higher GPU speeds than its predecessor. The device offers 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
  • Pre-Orders for the Mate XT2 start at $2,980 for the 256GB variant, while the 1TB model with the optional privacy screen costs $3,725. The privacy display limits light emission angles to keep the screen visible only head-on.
  • Alongside the phone, Huawei revealed HarmonyOS 7, featuring AI and glass-like effects. International availability remains unknown, though the launch arrives just before Apple is set to unveil its first-ever folding iPhone later this week.
